Vi lever i en tid, hvor tingene skal gå stærkt. Vi skal løbe stærkt. Sådan er det bare. Man stiller nogle gange sig selv spørgsmålet ”Hvorfor?”, men svaret er meget komplekst. Det korte af det lange er, at vi er nødt til at spare. Pengene er få. Tiden er knap. Ressourcerne er begrænsede. Formentlig derfor oplever vi besparelser på uddannelsesområdet. De danske gymnasier skal spare over 10 % på budgetterne, og det kommer man til at mærke. Der er desværre ikke noget kæmpe overskud, vi kan tage af. Gymnasierne er nødt til at finde besparelserne et sted. Det kan betyde personalefyringer og andre besparelser på goder, som bidrager til et godt uddannelsessystem: Studierejser, bøger, sociale arrangementer osv. er alle områder, vi kan blive nødt til at skære i. Kan vi opretholde samme uddannelsesstandard for færre penge? Måske. Men faktum er, at det kommer til at kræve blod, sved og tårer fra alle involverede. Og måske er der grænser for, hvor hurtigt vi kan løbe, hvis vi også skal have lemmerne med?
